About Us

It’s almost time to put another season in the books.  The summer has come and gone, but not the golf season.  There is still some prime golf left to go and golfers should be enjoying some of the best conditions of the year.  What started off as a slow and easy season, became challenging at the end.  The excessive rain, followed by the heat and humidity of August more than made up for the easy June.  I hope everyone had a productive and successful season.

I would like to thank all of our meeting hosts for allowing us to enjoy their facilities.  We started at Quoque, had our US Open event at Bethpage, Eisenhower Park, our family beach party, and just attended our MET / LIGCSA joint meeting at Meadowbrook.  All meetings were strongly attended and successful.  Our hosts and their clubs went above and beyond for us, so again thank you for your efforts.  We still have one more monthly meeting to go and I am sure we will have another great event at Southhampton for our Superintendent / Club official day.

I would also like to take the opportunity to thank our commercial members for their support.  We are fortunate to have commercial partners, who continue to offer their support during these tough economic times.  A special thanks to Maxwell Turf, Fairway Golf Car and Mill Pond for hosting the 3rd annual Superintendents Appreciation Day.  Jim Vogel and everyone at Mill Pond did an excellent job and gave us a perfect day.

We again awarded our annual scholarships in August at our 9 and dine hosted by Piping Rock.  The following were the 2009 scholarship winners:

Lauren Kocienda

Elisabeth McAvoy

Emily Carlone

Katherine McAvoy

Lauren Lambert

David Golan

Kevin Anderson

Hannah Friend

Congratulations to all of our 2009 Scholarship winners.

Again, I hope everyone had a good season I hope to see everyone at our next meeting on October 19th at Southhampton Golf Club

LIGCSA Scholarship Fund

Last year, Roxanne Paquette donated nearly $2,000 to the LIGCSA scholarship fund via the profit from sales of Arbonne skin care products to LIGCSA members.  This year she has agreed to run the same program.  100% of the profit from sales to LIGCSA members will be donated to our scholarship fund!  She has some pre made baskets that make excellent gifts for wives, girlfriends or daughters.  She has products for men as well.  All are top quality, effective products.  For more information or to place your order, contact Roxanne at: roxpaq@msn.com or    (631) 926-4237.
